'tis the damn season
to be grateful, happy, charitable, fun, social, creative, and sane. no biggie, right?!!
November really said g2g!! I can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week. Maybe it is because I have been having so much fun trying to keep my head above water and not drown in my own life and you know, time flies!!!! LOL
In all seriousness, yes, it is the most wonderful time of the year but it is also a wonderful time to have healthy boundaries, and protect your peace as you navigate this season. The holidays can bring up a lot for people, and the best thing you can do for yourself is to pause, breathe, and listen to what your body and your emotions are communicating to you. Check in often. And remember that NO is a complete sentence!
On October 9 I decided to challenge myself to a 30 day challenge of waking up at 5 am. It started with a *hYpOThEsIs* if you will. The question was,
“Is it easier to wake up at 5 am every single day, or to only do it 1-2 days a week?”
I feel like it is harder to shock your body 1-2 times a week by waking up at a different (insanely early) time. Having consistent times for waking and resting is important for our circadian rhythms. And it is true.
I completed the challenge today! And I have lots to say about what I learned about myself, and the habit, and what happens when you wake up and do the hard thing first before you are even fully coherent, but that’s probably a song for another time. If you haven’t already commented, complimented or celebrated me and my accomplishments, the DM’s are open.
Okay, enough BRAGGING. Let’s get into what is
H.O.T. this week!
Highlighted yoga pose of the week: Utkatasana, Chair Pose
Chair pose is the friend that nobody likes. They are often at your yoga class, you may groan or hesitate before sending your booty back, but they are unavoidable. Lol. Sometimes, when we take the time to really pinpoint what it is we don’t like about this particular friend, or in this case, pose, we might actually realize they arent that bad. That there is something good in that friend. Maybe, maybe not. But I’ve held more chair poses over the last 30 days than I would have liked. I sometimes even said screw the chair, I’m standing today. But as I squeezed my butt cheeks together and breathed through the discomfort, I found something good in every chair.
Ommm Offering:
Flowing will get you places that forcing never could.
A good reminder for the next several weeks to not force anything. Let it be easy, enjoyable and flowy.
